Mobile Master: from shareware to market leader

Sustained long-term PR campaign using our comprehensive consultancy approach

Jumping Bytes was founded in 2001 by Christoph Güntner in Munich. Since 2005 the company has been concentrating on its main product, Mobile Master: a complete solution for the synchronization of contact, appointment and task data between all the major mobile phone models from Sony Ericsson, Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, LG and BenQ Siemens on the one hand and all the most common e-mail clients and contact management programs such as Outlook, Thunderbird, Lotus Notes, Palm Desktop, Tobit David and Novell Groupwise on the other. We have been advising this Munich-based company since 2005, using our all-inclusive approach to PR. We guided them throughout the process of strategically positioning the main product, Mobile Master. We established the company as specialists in synchronization and helped them introduce new software releases in the B2C and B2B sector. In 2008 we also worked with them on a new corporate identity and a new website in cooperation with Aromapark Media. MesserPR was responsible for the structure, content and wording of the website.  By incorporating the lessons and experiences of the last few years the site also helped establish a new corporate identity. Supported by a targeted PR campaign, we successfully generated coverage for this new company image in the IT press.

Highlights of work carried out from 2005 to 2009

Jumping Bytes - PR milestones:

Result: turnover doubled and the company's position as market leader was strengthened

The fruits of having a consistent PR program have been considerable:

  • Increased turnover: our PR activities have contributed significantly to the doubling of turnover since 2005.
  • Market position: Mobile Master consolidated its position as market leader in mobile phone synchronization.
  • Press response: Mobile Master product announcements were published in target media as follows:
    • Online and print IT (c’t, Computerbild, CHIP etc.),
    • Specialist telecommunications (connect, xonio.de, mobile news etc.),
    • Lifestyle (e.g. Men's Health)
    • Youth (e.g. Bravo Screenfun)
    • B2B computing (e.g. Computerwoche) and the Financial (e.g. FAZ.net)
    • Whenever large articles or advice about data synchronization between mobile phones and PCs appear, Mobile Master is often described as the product that sets the bar.
      • Example: an announcement by the dpa news agency mentioned Mobile Master in an article about data synchronization between mobile phones and PCs. The announcement was taken up by about 40 regional publications and weekly magazines in Germany.
  • Target audiences reached: a wide range of target groups from end-users in various industries to young people, IT & telecommunications specialists, managers from businesses of all sizes through various media outlets. We also built up contacts with key influencing bodies for Mobile Master Forensic.
  • International coverage: activity outside of DACH increased coverage by 35% as a result of international press campaigns and participation in the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
  • Download listings: Mobile Master is listed in the download sections of all relevant IT magazines in the most current version. An analysis of download activity on the Mobile Master website showed a direct correlation with the PR campaign.
